Background:

Newlands Primary School is a primary school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is four to 11. The school is situated on the border of Ramsgate and Broadstairs on the Isle of Thanet in East Kent. In 1997 over £300,000 worth of buildings were added to the school. Its two new purpose-built reception classes give its youngest the best start possible. The second hall which is fully carpeted has enhanced the music, dance and drama provisions and now the school has a purpose-built library. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are offered at lunchtime and after-school. These activities include football, netball, cricket, rugby, unihoc, badminton, gymnastics, athletics, music, drama and cyber club. The school aims to establish a happy and supportive learning environment where children are encouraged to produce work of the highest quality appropriate for each individuals pupil, taking into account his or her interests, aptitude, age and ability.
