Background:
Arden Junior School was built in 1902 and is next to Richmond Infants School. The school is also situated close to Gillingham town centre. The main building consists of 12 classrooms, two halls, an ICT suite, a special educational needs annexe, a library/resource room, a design and technology/science room, a staffroom and a kitchen, along with a number of administrative rooms and smaller rooms for group work. Other facilities include two playgrounds as well as access to a sports field and swimming pool. The school has a large library with a large range of fiction and non-fiction books. School trips or visits by outside performers are an important part of their studies and are arranged throughout the school year. The school has a wide range of after school clubs. These include choir, football, cricket, hockey, chess and library. Children live in a highly developed technological society and daily they control and consume a wide range of sophisticated technology. The school aims to create a stimulating and challenging learning environment where everyone is encouraged to develop a desire for life-long learning and a sense of citizenship within a changing world.
