Background:

Featherby Junior School is a primary school for boys and girls. The age range of the pupils is seven to 11. The first aim of all staff at school is to give the children a happy and secure environment in which to work and play. All the children are encouraged to use the library and are taught library skills across the Key Stage 2 curriculum. A structured progression of opportunities will meet the adventurous and competitive challenges requiring individual and group participation. Skills are an important factor at this time and the children will be encouraged to set themselves targets of achievement and develop their growing skills by working with others in small groups. The school aims to provide an enjoyable sporting curriculum in which all children can take a full part. The programme covers a wide range of sporting activities both in curricular and extra-curricular time in which the children are encouraged to participate. A wide range of sports are included in the formal and extra-curricular activities of the school including: football, cricket, netball, rounders, gymnastics, athletics, swimming and tennis. The school aims to create a happy, relaxed and stimulating atmosphere in which each child can develop positive and cooperative relationships, tolerance, understanding and respect for all people.
