Background:
Founded in 1874 by Lord Darnley, the school also has historical connections with nearby Cobham Hall. Housed in a 'picturesque' Victorian school with modern additions, a hall and seven classrooms, it has a reputation as a 'nurturing and friendly school which achieves high results' and is 'popular and well-respected locally'. The full range of National Curriculum subjects is taught, including swimming and citizenship. Facilities include a good-sized playing field, two playgrounds, a pond and a school house. The over-subscribed school has close links with the village church and the vicar is Chair of Governors.
