Background:

Chatham Grammar School founded in 1907 for Girls. It was fee paying before becoming a county grammar school in 1944 and in 1992. The school became the first girls' grammar school in the country to become a Technology College in February 1994. All pupils in Years 8 and 9 take two foreign languages. The basic entry requirements for sixth form are that students must have achieved at least five GCSE grades of C or at least GCSE grade B in those subjects to be studied to AS and A level. The Sixth Form base is on the first floor of the Stella Shaw Building, which opened in 1999. There is a spacious common room and study rooms for sole use by the Sixth Form, adjacent to the school library. The school also provides networked computers, which are available in both libraries, as well as in computer rooms and other areas of the school. The school aims to provide happy and secure environment for the girls.
