Background:

Founded in 1905, the school is located in the centre of Ramsgate near the harbour. Additions include a specialist science annexe. The school also has two IT networks, a technology room, swimming pool, sixth-form study centre and fitness room. It offers a 'wide' range of 25 A-level and eight AS-level courses. There is an additional intake at 16+ which includes boys in the sixth-form. Extra-curricular activities include chess, drama, young engineers' club, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, weight-training, trampoline, sports teams, orchestra, choir and wind band. There are two music concerts each year in addition to a major production with a neighbouring boys' school. A large proportion of pupils enter higher education. As a Modern Languages Specialist School, it supports the primary MFL initiative and local businesses that need extra tuition for employees. Pupils have the opportunity to learn many languages including Chinese, Italian and sign language. Emphasis on high expectations in a supportive and caring environment.
