Background:

Our Lady's Catholic Primary School is located in the centre of Dartford in an area of residential housing and light industry. It is approximately a quarter of a mile from the Catholic parish church. The building is a two-storey brick building with a flat roof erected in the 1950s as a private girls' secondary. It was adapted for use as a voluntary aided primary school and opened as such in 1964. There is a small playground in front of the school and a grass area behind. Infant classrooms are situated on the ground floor and juniors on the first floor. The school aims to maintain a 'positive and and caring Christian ethos reflected in all aspects of the school life'. The school offers a variety of extra-curricular opportunities in music and sport. Pupils have the opportunity to participate in local sporting events and music is seen by the school as one of its strengths. There are close links with the local community including support for charities. The school is over-subscribed with a ratio of two applicants to every place. Priority is given to baptised children of committed Catholic parents.
