Background:

Lower Halstow School is set in a small rural village on the estuary of the River Medway, and was founded in 1876. The administrative and hall block is in the original school building but the teaching block was built in the 1970's. There are two mobile classrooms, one for teaching and one for resources. The school'serves the village of Lower Halstow, but some out-of-village pupils are admitted. It is over-subscribed, with on average 29 applications for 20 places. The school has a 'thriving' parent-teacher association, which raises funds for the school and holds non-profit making events for the local community. Pupils are also encouraged to organise events for local and national charities.
