Background:
Riverside Primary School was opened in September 4, 2003. It is the amalgamation of the infant and junior schools "Meredale Infant" and "Wakeley Junior" when they closed in July 2003. It is a one-form entry with a new 52 place nursery and provision for visually impaired children from ages 3 to 11 years. Standardised assessment test (SAT) results in both schools were high, special educational needs (SEN) percentage is low in comparison to other local schools. Building is totally refurbished, grounds are level, tree lined and good outdoor provision for foundation stage. Playground is equipped for all age groups. There is a swimming pool. Very much part of the community, hall is used for dance clubs and for other activities. As a new school it is working towards new achievements. After one term it has achieved a "Heartbeat" award. Ethos welcoming, relaxed, calm and family orientated.
