Background:
Founded in 1868, High Halden is a Victorian building with additional mobile classrooms. The site features a 'large' playing field and a garden with a pond. High Halden has enjoyed 'excellent' sporting achievements. The football team have won local tournaments and league competitions and the netball team were runners up in the Weald of Kent sports. 'Excellent' community links have been established and in 1999 a local builder organised the development of a millenium garden and summer house, with the support of seven local businesses. The Parent-Teacher Association is supportive through the organisation of several regular annual events and a close working relationship has been developed with the local church, St Mary's. Maintenance work to the school is often carried out by work parties from Blantyre House, the local prison, as part of its rehabilitation programme. Extra-curricular activities include football, netball, cricket, rounders, sewing, chess, dance, computer club, video club, gardening and art.
