Background:
Founded in 1971, Park Farm is situated in a 'pleasant residential area' in central Folkestone. The school grounds are 'extensive' and include a playing field, two playgrounds and garden areas with a separate environmental area for 'Reception age' children. The buildings are 'spacious' with 'large' classrooms, one main hall, one dance hall and a separate dining hall with modern kitchen for on-site catering. Teacher and pupil expectations are 'extremely high' and 66 per cent of pupils transfer to grammar schools. The school aims 'to provide a broad and balanced curriculum which is relevant to the needs of each pupil'. Musical achievements are 'high' with a wide range of orchestral instruments taught and a school choir and orchestra. Pupils participate in the Chepway Music Festival. All year groups perform drama productions. A 'wide variety' of extra-curricular activities are available. Swimming and football are competed in at a local level. The school has forged strong links with the community and build fundraising into this by collecting money for a local children's hospice. The school aims 'to have the children reach their highest potential both academically and socially'. 'There is a strong commitment to high attainment for all'.
