Background:

St Nicholas-at-Wade C.E. Primary School is a Voluntary Controlled School, taking infant and junior pupils from four to 11 years of age. The school is situated on the fringe of Thanet, close to the River Wansum. This rural setting makes for an attractive location with good access to Margate, Canterbury and surrounding villages. The present school, built upon the site of the old, Victorian premises, was constructed in 1959 and has since been developed to include good quality external classrooms. The school is set in spacious grounds with a children's playground, two climbing frames and a designated infant area. In dry weather the school's extensive playing field is fully utilised. The main school building contains three classrooms and the school hall which is used for assemblies, physical education, music lessons and orchestra practice and as a dining hall. In the school grounds there are a further four classes, an IT Room and a Portakabin, which is used as a reference library with an area for small group work and music room. There is wide range of extra-curricular activities including: football, netball, tennis, rugby, rounders and cross-country.
