Background:

Stocks Green is a one-form entry primary school, on the edge of Tonbridge in Kent, in a village called Hildenborough. The school was built in 1969 in response to local needs for a new school. The school is beautifully located, with extensive grounds and large playing areas. The accommodation provides space for seven classrooms and a hall for assemblies, physical education and school meals. There is an excellent library. In the last two years a music room and information resource room have been added to the school to provide high quality facilities for teaching in these areas. The infants have a climbing frame with a safety surface, provided by the parent teacher association. In addition to classroom computer provision, a purpose-built computer suite is available. The school provides several different clubs including football, netball, choir, recorders, writing, cricket and orchestra. Specialist music tuition is available for the cello, flute, guitar, piano, trumpet and violin. The school has close links with other primary schools and older children get together to take part in sporting and musical events including music festival, swimming gala, inter-school sports day, cricket festival and netball and football tournaments. The school has achieved Basic Skills Quality Mark (2003), Investor in People status (2002) and DfES achievement award (2001, 2002, 2003). The school is a learning community built upon excellence, where all should be able to achieve to the maximum of their potential.
