Background:

The school is a Church of England (Controlled) Co-Educational Primary School, catering for boys and girls aged four to eleven years. It was established in 1837, the school values its close association with the Church of St. Mary's, which is adjacent to the school and is used on a number of occasions throughout the year for school functions. The school provides various extra-curricular activities such as: Recorder groups, chess club, choir, football & netball practices and matches, swimming club, ski club, table tennis and art. The school is blessed with excellent outdoor facilities and over the years the interest has grown in the major sports of football and netball. It also teaches tag rugby, cricket and badminton. Practices are held in and out of school time and after school matches are arranged with other schools. There is a strong musical tradition with specialist teachers being employed to work with the choir, which in several occasions has performed at Canterbury Cathedral. The schools aim is to foster each child's emotional, moral, physical, social and academic development. To care for children and to teach them to care about others and the world in which they live.
