Background:
Founded in 1674, the Harvey Grammar School is located within sight of the North Downs. The main school buildings were constructed in 1913 and have since been extended. Recent additions include a science and technology suite, a languages centre, a lecture theatre, a music room, art studios, a sports hall and a cricket pavilion. Information technology facilities have been enhanced with the provision of three specialist, air-conditioned computer suites and more than 200 networked computers. There are many sports tours, most recently to the USA (football), Barbados (cricket) and Spain (hockey and basketball). The school's Old Boys Association has a current membership of 800. Entry was increased to six forms in 2000 to meet demand. The school was described by Michael Howard MP as 'a jewel in Folkestone's crown'.
